Education Admin answers:

I think that both of those would go under Health Sciences, as they both would require a doctorate degree in medicine (MD).

Recently Asked Question:

Hello there, I have a few queries in my head for a long time. What is medical coding and billing? What computer knowledge must be needed to conduct e tution (maths)?

Posted by – Jayashree S

Reply: Medical coding is the process of converting descriptions of medical diagnosis, healthcare drugs & procedures into numeric codes.

This is useful in clinical care, research & education.Medical billing is billing insurance companies and patients for procedures and office visits.

There are certification & training programs in medical coding & billing abroad. You need to have sufficient technical & software knowledge along with required infrastructure to conduct e tuition or virtual learning classes.

You could obtain experience through training with firms specializing in this area or you could start a franchisee with such firms. This question was asked to My Education Times.

Questions For Those Who Attended Or Still Attend Quincy College (USA, Mass)?

I am looking into Medical Billing and Coding and I am interested in Quincy college because it is near my home. Any information about schools for medical billing and coding at Quincy college, would be helpful.

Your personal experiences there would be well appreciated, including costs, classroom sizes, teachers, how hard it is, etc) thank you.

Education Admin answers:

Quincy College is in a fine area of Quincy, I remember it being pretty easy to get to off of the highways.

I took some classes there, and they had plenty of parking. I don’t know if that’s still true, but it was true a few years ago. The school is inexpensive compared to other types of schools, because they’re actually a community college, they’re public, so you get the lower, in-state rate on tuition.

And I believe that if you formally enroll in the medical billing and coding program, you’ll be eligible to apply for financial aid, talk to the school about that.

The classes that I took were in math and in business, and there were usually about 20 students in each class. I didn’t take any medical billing and coding classes, though, so I can’t comment on those.

I have heard that Quincy College actually has a satellite campus in Plymouth. If they offer medical billing and coding there, that would be perfect for you, it’s right in your town.

Maybe check it out and see if they have what you need there, and if not, go to the campus up in Quincy. This is the phone number for their Plymouth campus: 508-747-0400

I Really Need To Know!

I am taking classes for medical coding and billing in a vocational school right now, but im thinking about changing to phlebotomy tech before i get too far in.

What are some things that I need to know? Are Phlebotomy Techs really in high demand, or is this just something fabricated by the vocational school?

Would it be easier for me to find a job doing phlebotomy than medical billing? Would I really be making between 10 and 14 dollars an hour? Any other information would be appreciated, thanks.

Education Admin answers:

Medical billing is a paper job, going into Phlebotomy and you will never be short of work! The hours are longer but the pay is better, and you will have chances at rotation, so you will never get bored!! Have fun, and good luck!

I Need Reviews From Penn Foster Or Miller-Motte, Or Other Online School Grads?

I am thinking about applying for one of the Medical Coding and Billing programs in one of these schools and would like to know if there is anyone out there that has graduated from one of them.

I would really like to know how likely it is that I could get a job in that field immediately upon completing the course. How much is tuition? How helpful were the instructors? Did they help you find a job when you graduated?

Any additional information that I can’t find on their web sites would be really helpful. Thanks!

Education Admin answers:

Most schools will have resources available to assist with the transition from school to career. However most do not find you the work, If they promise work it may be a scam.

Ask each school specifically what is available to their grads. Also only consider accredited schools. The school can be public or private, online or brick and mortar as long as the school is accredited and the accrediting body is recognized by the U.S. Dept of Education.

Should I Put My Current School Education On My Resume?

I am in the process of getting certified as an Medical Administrative Assistant with Billing and Coding and will complete school in about a month.

There is a job fair coming soon and I want to know if it would be ok to put my school information on it if I have not completed it just yet. Any help will be appreciated.Thanks.

Education Admin answers:

While I’m not an expert, I would suggest that you do indeed list the schooling on your resume. However, be sure to note “expected completion: April 2012″ rather than implying you have already finished.
